A common question when connecting SAM to a website is simply: what actually moves? It is a fair thing to want clear before you switch anything on. Not everything in SAM belongs on your storefront, and that is by design. Here is a plain breakdown.
What syncs to your store
- Artists and their profiles
- Artworks and products, with stories, dimensions and photos
- Editions and variations
- Stock levels, in real time
- Pricing and discounts
- The categories you choose to show, mapped into shopper buckets
What flows back to SAM
Orders, as sales records with buyer details, taxes and shipping, and stock changes so both systems agree. That is the loop that keeps everything current.
What stays inside SAM
Your accounts, artist payments, consignment records and internal reporting stay in SAM where they belong. The website does not need them, and you would not want that detail public. Products you created by hand on your store also stay untouched; the Defyn SAM plugin only manages items it imports from SAM, each tagged so the two never clash.
