Online Galleries: Showing Artwork the Right Way

By

An online gallery is more than a grid of images. Done well, it lets the work speak, helps people find what moves them, and turns interest into a sale. Done poorly, it buries beautiful art under clutter. Here is how to show artwork the right way online.

Start with image quality

Nothing matters more than the images. They need to be high quality, true to colour, and optimised so they look crisp without slowing the page down. Poor photography undersells even the finest work.

Give the work room to breathe

Generous space around each piece signals that it matters. Resist the urge to cram. A calm, uncluttered layout lets visitors focus on one work at a time, the way they would in a physical gallery.

Make browsing effortless

Let people filter by artist, medium, size or community, and make every artwork page clear about price, availability and provenance. The easier it is to explore, the longer people stay and the more they buy.

Connect art to its story

Link each work to the artist behind it. The story and culture add meaning and value, and they help buyers feel confident and connected to what they are buying.

We have built online galleries for art centres across Australia for more than 12 years. See our approach on our art centres and galleries page, or browse examples on our work page. Ready to talk? Start a project or call 02 9834 4119.
